NEWSSalvation Army Bushfire Chaplains - 12 Nov 2021
The Salvation Army have appointed David and Wendy Simpkin as Bushfire Chaplains to the South Coast of NSW. The following is their personal bio...... Based in Batemans Bay, our area is the coastal region from Nowra to Mallacoota. The role of a chaplain is to walk alongside people and journey with them in all aspects of life. We offer a listening ear, emotional and spiritual support, as directed by the community member. Our desire is that we would assist people to reach their full potential. We have been church leaders and community chaplains for over 30 years and more recently David has been Prison chaplain for 7 years. Wendy has been a Court Chaplain for 5 years. We have 3 adult children, Natalie in New Zealand, Carly and Amy in Adelaide. David enjoys word puzzles, cooking, bush walking, and listening to people’s stories. Wendy enjoys beach walks, creating things – Quilting, Lego, craft, a good movie, visiting new places and meeting people. We look forward to working alongside those who are already in this space, learning from them and filling in the potential gaps to achieve the best outcomes for fire affected people and communities.
