Fishermans Paradise (population 491) is located at the head of Lake Conjola, alongside Conjola Creek - the lake’s main tributary. Gooloo and Bunnair Creeks flow into Conjola Creek, north-west of the village.
Fishermans Paradise sits on Wanda Wandian Country, and Dhurga is the local Aboriginal language. The Local Aboriginal Land Council for Fishermans Paradise and surrounds is Jerringa.
Fishermans Paradise is bordered by a beautiful riverside reserve, with walkways that extend to a protected salt marsh, invaluable for fish breeding. Locals and visitors alike value the local natural environment, and a local volunteer Bushcare group meets monthly (4th Tuesday of the month, meeting 9.30am at the boat ramp – all welcome).
Fishermans Paradise also has a volunteer Fire Brigade. Community-run Halloween and Christmas events are annual highlights for local children.
