Shoalhaven City Council Proposed Rate Rise 2017/18-20120/21
Special Rate Variation (Rise) 2018-2021 approved by NSW IPART

This morning Council has been informed that IPART has approved the application for a Special Rate Variation, on a permanent basis. This means the rate increase of 13.2% that had been applied last year, will be retained with a further increase of 5% (which includes the rate peg of 2.3%) for the next three years is also applied.
The following is an extract from the IPART FACT Sheet:-
Shoalhaven City - 2018/19 : 17.1% increase; 2019/20 : 5% increase; 2020/21 - 5% increase; Cumulative % increase over 3 yrs = 29.1%

The NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) have announced its determination of Council’s Special Rate Variation application and decided to allow the special variation, in part, on a one year temporary basis. This allows Council to increase its general rate income by 13.2% in 2017/18.....more
