Shoalhaven Community Development Grants Program 2016Conjola
Published 13 April 2016
Shoalhaven City Council is advising local residents of the opening of the application process for the annual Community Development Grants Scheme.
Council will conduct a series of workshops throughout the Shoalhaven to assist in the development of grant application ideas.
The workshops will allow community members to explore their project ideas in a group setting before presenting them to the entire group.
Following the presentation a popular vote will be held on which projects from each workshop will be progressed to the development and application stage.
Workshops are open to the entire community and will be used as a prerequisite for those wishing to make an application.
Community members would be able to apply for funding up to a maximum of $2,000 through the scheme.
The Community Grants Scheme has been designed to help local organisations and associations build vibrant and activated local communities. The grants are able to be placed towards a small event or put towards a program that brings further value to one the area’s towns and villages. The program will benefit the area by helping build on Council’s vision of a safe and attractive community for people to live, work, stay and play as described in the Community Strategic Plan.
The application requirements will allow applicants to workshop their ideas and work closely with Council in developing their ideas.
Council encourages any local association that is looking to build social equity and address community needs within their local area to attend one of the upcoming workshops and make an application under the 2016 Community Development Grants scheme.
Council staff will work with each project, to develop it for grant application and will also assist in finding an auspicing body for the application if necessary.
If an application is not successful advice will be provided to the applicant of alternate funding possibilities.
Upcoming workshops will take at the following locations and times:
• Nowra – Family Day Care Meeting Room, Park Road, Nowra 2– 4 pm 27 April 2016
• St. George’s Basin – Sanctuary Point Youth & Community Centre, 2-4 pm 29 April 2016
